A small organization, committed to distributing UFO material publicly, and engaging in responsible, thorough, and patient research. DUFORRAK works to realize numerous goals, with a specific focus on productive collaboration, community support, UFO study advocacy, and improvements in the social attitude and knowledge base.
Countless reputable trained observers in multiple fields of expertise, whose purpose of employment was to provide reliable and accurate observation, have recorded sightings of various types of unidentified aircraft. These appear in a number of categorical shapes, including cylinders, disks, ellipsoids, lights, spheres, and triangles. Hoaxes and mental health phenomena are distinct and separate from authentic UFO sightings, and great effort is made to identify and exclude sightings that represent natural meteorological, astronomical, and technological phenomenon known to the world. Specific and consistent traits are common in sightings, and patterns emerge from the data. UFOs are measurable, repeatable observations displaying regular characteristics. We can identify a UFO by observing it’s unique behaviour. Understanding their nature is the next step. This is the essence of ufological study.
UFOs are real. Explanations of what they are or where they come from are unsatisfying and generally speculative. Authentic reliable sighting reports involve an air or space object with operating capabilities that aren’t within our own technological limits. They can be measured in various aspects, leave physical traces of interaction with the environment, and appear to react to changes in stimulus. The behaviour of these objects is demonstrably non-terrestrial, in that they are able to withstand un-experienced forces of physics and perform actions with very unfamiliar mechanisms. UFOs have been observed and reported since early written history, and with the turn of the modern century, we have been able to accurately record and analyze sightings and produce useful data.
The UFO Dilemma
Photographic evidence is low for UFOs, but it isn’t surprising. UFOs appear unannounced, making photography or immediate observation difficult when the sighting begins. If a UFO is flying fast, reaction time is reduced for cameras to be useful. Picture quality will decrease as altitude (distance from the camera) increases. Often, a UFO report only has the reputation of the witness as merit. How do you study something so elusive? When many reports are accumulated and looked at together, similarities between reports emerge, presenting an overwhelming pattern. Databases and catalogues with extensive and detailed records provide much information for analysis. Out-of-the-box research and scientific application have extended the breadth of our understanding of this phenomenon. A slow accumulation of reliable facts are pieced together to provide us with a “prototype” of the UFO, and creates the framework for scientific, modern UFO study.
